Why Us
Planned for Your Home's Era
Older kitchens west of the 805 were often closed rooms with limited counter space and circuits sized for a different era of appliances. Kitchens in Rancho del Rey, established in 1989 and the newer east-side communities usually have more space but builder-grade cabinets and laminate or tile counters that are showing their age. The right remodel is different for each, and we plan from what is actually there.
California licenses contractors through the Contractors State License Board (CSLB). Most kitchen remodels fall under the B-2 Residential Remodeling Contractor classification, which requires at least three unrelated building trades per project. Opening a kitchen to the living room is a common request, but removing a load-bearing wall exceeds B-2 scope and requires a full B General Building license. We tell you which license class your plan needs before anything is final.

Old West Side, Newer East Side
In the older homes of Northwest Chula Vista (Bayfront, Central, Hilltop) and Southwest Chula Vista (Castlepark, Harborside, Otay), a kitchen remodel often starts with what is behind the walls: plumbing and wiring that have been patched over the years, and a layout that boxes the cook in. We plan a contingency for what turns up and explain it in writing.
East of the 805, in Eastlake, Otay Ranch, Sunbow, and Terra Nova, the structure is usually newer and simpler to work with. Many owners there want to upgrade rather than rebuild: new cabinet fronts, a quartz counter, a bigger island. That is where cabinet refacing or new counters can transform a kitchen without a full tear-out.

What Your Consultation Covers
A free design consultation includes measurements, a look at the plumbing, electrical panel, and walls you might want to move, and a conversation about how you use the kitchen. You get a written proposal with layout, cabinet and counter options, which trades are involved, whether a permit applies, and a schedule from demolition to walkthrough. If a wall you want gone turns out to be load-bearing, we say so and explain what that adds.

Designed Around How You Cook
We ask the questions that shape a good kitchen: Who cooks, and how often? Where do groceries land? Do two people work at once? Is there enough landing space beside the stove and refrigerator? Where do trash and recycling go? A good layout puts the sink, stove, and refrigerator within easy reach without crossing traffic, adds drawers where you reach most, and lights the counters properly.
We also tell you where money is not well spent. Moving a sink or range to a new wall adds plumbing, gas, and permit work; keeping them in place often leaves budget for better cabinets and counters you touch every day.
Common Questions
Kitchen Remodeling Questions
Do I need a permit to remodel a kitchen?
Usually, when plumbing, electrical, gas, or walls change. We confirm with the City of Chula Vista Development Services Department and file for you. Replacing cabinet doors or counters alone often does not need one, and we tell you which applies.
Can I remove a wall to open my kitchen?
Often, but removing a load-bearing wall exceeds B-2 scope and requires a full B General Building license. We check whether the wall is load-bearing, explain the structural work, and file permits with the City of Chula Vista Development Services Department.
How do I choose a kitchen remodeling contractor?
Check the license with the Contractors State License Board (CSLB), confirm a $25,000 contractor's license bond, and get a written scope, price, and schedule. Ask who files the permit and who does the plumbing and electrical.
How long does a kitchen remodel take?
Refacing or new counters can take days; a full remodel usually several weeks once cabinets arrive. Inspections by the City of Chula Vista Development Services Department are built into the schedule when a permit applies.
